They’re at it again. Gerard Alessandrini and his team of offbeat performers tackle Broadway’s best (and worst) in Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging! This latest incarnation has plenty of fodder and dishes out hilarious spoofs of currents hits and flops, including Rocky, Aladdin, The Bridges of Madison County, Bullets Over Broadway and more. The four-person cast (Carter Calvert, Scott Richard Foster, Mia Gentile and Marcus Stevens) each has their moments in the spotlight, but it is the sum of the parts that makes Forbidden Broadway so much fun.

While the vocal gymnastics and impersonations are impressive, so are the quick costume changes (designed by Dustin Cross) and visual antics, which include an overhead projector that simulates Les Miserábles’ latest set design and a toy boxing ring as homage to Rocky’s climactic ending.

Forbidden Broadway has been an unstoppable theatrical force since 1982, when Gerard Alessandrini created the first edition that lampooned the Broadway shows and stars of the day who often stop by to laugh at themselves alongside the public. The show has won numerous awards in its history including a 2006 Tony® Honor, Drama Critics’ Circle, Obie, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League, and Lucille Lortel Awards.

Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging! will now be playing on both sides of the pond as it returns to London’s Menier Chocolate Factory June 19 – August 13.
